Safiyya Vorajee said she was "screaming and crying" when her ex Ashley Cain told her that he was having a baby with another woman.

Dental nurse Safiyya and footballer-turned-reality TV star Ashley tragically lost their eight month old daughter Azaylia following a battle with leukaemia in April 2021.

Speaking about the moment Safiyaa found out her ex would be a father again she told The Sun: "He didn’t tell me who she was and, again, I would not ask."

Breaking down in tears, she added: "That’s the heartbreaking thing about it. Even when he told me, I put him first so he didn’t feel guilty for telling me. Inside I was screaming and crying."

When the news of Ashley's baby then broke online, Safiyya recalled being sat at a table with Little Mix singer Leigh-Anne Pinnock and sprinter Linford Christie moments before presenting an award.

She told The Sun: "Somebody said there was footage of him online. I had no idea that was going to happen that day. I messaged him saying, ‘I’m just about to present an award. Like, seriously?’ He didn’t respond."

The heartbroken mum admitted she will struggle to see her ex become a father for the second and confessed: "As raw as that sounds, I find it difficult watching my own nephews, my own goddaughter play, as Azaylia should be playing with them."

Ashley, 33, broke down in tears himself as he shared the news with The Sun on Sunday that he was going to be a father again.

He recalled visiting his daughter’s grave to tell her the news that she was going to be a big sister.

Telling The Sun he said: "I am really, really excited and happy and I can't wait to see what this next part brings."

Ashley confirmed he is not in a relationship with the mother of his second child, who is due in January 2024, but is planning on being a hands-on father.

Speaking about Safiyya hearing his baby news, the former footballer said: "It was painful for Safiyya but it was also painful for me as well to talk to her.

"We haven’t been together for a while now and it is inevitable that at some stage people are going to move on with their lives – that doesn’t mean that we can’t be friends and have an amazing relationship".

Safiyya and Ashley were in a relationship from 2017 until 2022.

The pair announced their split in March 2022, at the time the TV star it "was an incredibly tough decision".

Despite their split, the grieving parents have fought tirelessly to help other families and children fighting cancer with The Azaylia Foundation, which captures Azaylia's spirit with the "little lion" logo.
